Yup, this is one of my biggest beefs with drivers on the road. I seriously think drivers written (and practical?) tests should have to be retaken every 5 years or so. I bet a lot of drivers have picked up so many bad habits they would fail.

I'll never understand why people slow down and yield to traffic at a merge. Furthermore, I'll NEVER understand why people slow, and even stop and wait, when they have a dedicated lane waiting for them!! I've had to honk my horn at someone waiting to get on to Whoop-Up Drive from McMaster when they have their own lane. Wake up!

But the worst is when I come home, taking the loop from Scenic Drive onto Whoop-Up. People slow down and even stop in a vain attempt to find a place to merge. Do people not realize that once you stop you require a far larger break in traffic to enter? If they were to get up to speed with traffic, they would require only as much space as they normally would to change lanes. It's really not that difficult of a concept! I've seen at least three near-collisions (two of which I was almost involved in) caused by someone treating that merge as a yield in just the six months I've been using it for my homeward commute. It's mind-boggling, really!

(Oh, and sorry for putting my rant in the comments. I just figured I'd let the signs speak the message in the main post.)
